Momence started in 2020 as a tool for hosts to run online and hybrid classes, with ticketing, memberships and video built in. Following its customers, it grew into the operating system for boutique fitness and wellness studios: booking, payments, payroll, marketing and a consumer app in one place.

The company went through Y Combinator in 2020 and was acquired by Clubessential Holdings in January 2025, serving more than 4,500 businesses.

Momence was founded by Vojta Drmota (CEO) and Matteo Carroll (COO), who both studied at Harvard.
