Rocket.Chat is a chat and collaboration open-source platform created by Gabriel Engel (CEO). His vision is to recreate email and enterprise collaboration software by combining best-in-class open-source and open protocols with modern features that boost productivity and collaboration. Today the platform has over 15M users in 150 countries and over 350,000 servers run their code.

Many enterprises are comfortable hosting applications in their managed-cloud or collocated environments and don't plan on relying on Slack for internal messaging mainly because their one-size fits all model does not work for companies that require a higher degree of privacy, safety, and customization.

Additionally, because Rocket.Chat is an open-source platform, some relevant clients are using the platform to integrate customer support with native apps and WhatsApp.
